Navigate to the [**content edit page**](https://help.trainual.com/en/articles/5593051-manage-a-subject?hsLang=en) under any [**content category**](https://help.trainual.com/en/articles/5600754-company-policies-processes?hsLang=en). 2. **Find the** **assigned** **document** you'd like to require an e-signature on. 3. **Open the three dot menu** to the right of the document title. 4. **Select** "**Require e-signature**" from the drop-down menu. ![](https://help.trainual.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-14-2026-07-46-07-5361-PM.png?width=230&height=324&name=image-png-Mar-14-2026-07-46-07-5361-PM.png) 🚨 **Reminder**: Editing a document with an active e-signature requirement will prompt everyone to re-sign. Check for errors and updates *before* enabling e-signatures to avoid accidentally resetting completions. --- ### What does the signature process look like for trainees? When the end of a document that requires an e-signature is reached, the final document button will read "**Sign and complete**." Assignees must sign and agree to the outlined content to proceed before the document can be recorded as finished. A **pop-up window** will appear that includes the entire overview of the document info for a final review. The system will then prompt assignees to "**Start signing**."   ![](https://help.trainual.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/Screenshot+2023-05-24+at+2_24_02+PM-1.png?width=350&name=Screenshot+2023-05-24+at+2_24_02+PM-1.png) Once they are completely done reviewing and signing the document, they just have to **hit** "**Finish**," and the system will record their full completion of the training and also send them a copy of their signed document.  **🔥 Tip**: Ensure each team member has a "[**Reports to**](https://help.trainual.com/en/manage-users?hsLang=en#individual-profiles)" person selected on their profiles so the best point of contact can also receive a copy of the signed documentation. If no "Reports to" person is noted, the copy will be sent to the [**content owner**](https://help.trainual.com/en/articles/5600870-subject-owners?hsLang=en).
