User Profiles: About Tab

Learn how to get to know your teammates (and let them get to know you) with info-rich, searchable user profiles.

Profiles in Trainual go beyond the basics — they help tell someone's story and how they work best. The more your team shares, the more connected everyone can become.

👉 Before you start:
  • This feature is available under all training and operations suite subscriptions.
  • Every Trainual user can access and edit the core components of their own user profile, which includes: basic user details, about me, working with me, role history, certifications, and skills sections.
  • Only those with an Admin+ permission level can edit another user's profile.
  • When the org chart, role chart, or directory is enabled in Trainual, users can also view other teammates' profiles.

Overview:

Trainual user profiles are designed to capture a full picture of a teammate, not just their name and role, but more about them as a person, how they work best, and how they are connected throughout your organization.

🗂️ Profiles are broken down into three tabs:

  • 👤 About → The human side of work. A colleague's personality, preferences, interests, and more that make team bonding seamless.
  • 🎓 Training → A real-time window into where someone is in their on-the-job learning journey and what they've already mastered.
  • 🏢 Operations → Where someone's role and work connect to the bigger company objectives like goals, meetings, and overall outcomes.

This article will walk you through every how-to under the "About" tab, section by section. Ready to start building out your profile? 👩‍🎨 Keep scrolling and...

Trainual AI x "About" profile tab

Trainual's AI goes beyond content and data — it's powered by your people, too! The more you and your team fill out their profiles, the harder AI tools can work for everyone.

🛠️ Tool 📋 Details
AI insights Below the "Working with me" section, you'll find an AI insights card that personalizes an auto-generated snapshot of how to work well with that person.

Think of it as a cheat sheet that reads through someone's profile and serves up the most useful tips for working with them well, so you can show up to every interaction more than prepared.

Hit "Refresh" to regenerate these insights at any time.

AI assistant

Every detail included on a user's "About" tab is searchable through Trainual's AI assistant. Just open your assistant from the sparkle icon (✨) in your top navigation bar and ask away.

💬 Try questions like:

  • "Who on my team is skilled in public speaking?" as a part of your preparations for a big presentation.
  • "What do I have in common with [teammate]?" before a 1:1.
  • "What's the best way to work with [teammate]?" to boost efficiency and collaboration on projects.
